Meenakshi Temple Astabandhana Maha Kumbabishekam & Samprokshanam

The world's famous and ancient Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple's "Astabandhana Maha Kumbabishekam" and "Maha Samprokshanam" is going to be held on Wednesday, April 08, 2009. The Kumbabishekam ceremony starts with the Vigneswara Pooja performed on 26th March 2009. In order to remove the obstacles, Vigneswara Pooja is performed. A special Yagasala is arranged at the North Aadi street of Temple. Various Pujas and Homas are performed for the upcoming Kumbabishekam. Special attention is made for the renovation of Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple Towers and inner parts of the temple. Around 12 crores spent for the renovation of Meenakshi Amman Temple. The whole temple towers are glittering with colorful paintings which impressed many.

March 26 2009 - Vigneswara Pooja
March 27 2009 - Ganapathy Homa
March 28 2009 - Navagraha Homa
March 29 2009 - Dhana Pooja
March 30 2009 - Shanthi Homa
March 31 2009 - Murthi Homa
April 02 2009 - Yagasala Pooja Starts
April 06 2009 - Kumbabishekam to be performed for Parivara Murthies
April 08 2009 - At 9.15 a.m. Astabandhana Maha Samprokshanam and Kumbabishekam to be performed for all the major towers of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple. At 9.30 a.m. Kumbabishekam to be performed for Meenakshi Amman Tower and at 9.45 a.m. Kumbabishekam to be performed for Sri Sundareswarar Swamy Tower.
On behalf of Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, the whole Madurai is proudly welcoming all devotees for this special ceremony.

It is one of the greatest blessings from GOD in their lifetime for viewing this kumbabhishekam..

Let all people in / from madurai be ther on that day and get the blessings of Amman , Lord Shiva.

I plan to see the kumbabishekam from one of the rooftops around the temple. Can the kumbabishekam be photographed from outside the temple? or are cameras prohibited even in the Sithirai streets?
I would be glad if you could help me with this info.

@Wulfy, Thanks for your interest shown in my blog. You can see the Kumbabishekam from any rooftops if the people own the house permits. Also you can take snapshots outside the temple.
